Black Heritage in Racing
Intro: The history of Black Jockies in Horse racing in the Kentucky Derby. Tasked with creating a book on the history of the Black Jockeys of the Kentucky Derby and the past, it is not well-known to audiences. So with the help of the Kentucky Derby museum with information and permission to use their collected images, I designed the layout and format of the book.
Research: Before I could begin designing the book's layout, I had to take time and research the history of Black jockeys. Thanks to the Derby Museum, which had an exhibit on the topic and provided all the textual content for our books.
Solution: Along with the Derby museum exhibit, My book provided a more compact experience of the history of Black heritage in horse racing.
